Final Day in Frankfurt

We slept a bit better in our new room, though there were still people up at all hours being noisy and talking. Around 3a there were firecrackers being set off, not fun to wake up too.

Set the alarm for earlier so we'd miss the breakfast crowd, then showered in our own private bathroom and headed out to revisit sights from yesterday.

First stop, Der Fruchtgummi-Landen! Where everyone started their morning in a super happy way with gummy bears!

Then we headed to the Zeil mall and explored a few stores. I was looking for a better pair of walking shoes and unexpectedly got a ear piercing instead. Well not instead, just first. :)

Onward to a Footlocker! Kinda funny yesterday when we were near the Footlocker there was this guy dressed up like a tennis player and he came up to us and asked if we wanted some soup from the pot he was holding. Of course we were not gonna take any, but it was funny to find out that he was getting married and it is custom for the friends to embarrass the groom. Their choice obviously was tennis player being made to get people to take soup until the two pots were gone. Any-who, after we got me some shoes we revisited the old town in hopes of running into what we saw yesterday, a tram that was dedicated to drinking apple wine and site seeing. No luck but it was worth a try.

Now back to our regular programming. Today was exploring Sachenhausen district and eating at a famous apple wine restaurant, Adolf Wagner.
We had a nice time wandering around, resting in a park for the first time this trip, and tracking down multiple grocery stores. Grocery stores are something fun to us, they in themselves are a site, different foods, different products, and so much to try!

Sitting next the river and enjoying the view was unplanned, we can thank our full bladders and Europe's lack of public restrooms for that. We had to buy a drink (well anything really) so we could use the restroom at the closest place near us. It turned out nice, right near a beautiful pedestrian bridge and just across the river you could see some of the buildings from old town.

Then off to the restaurant for more traditional foods! It has been interesting to taste the different apple wines from place to place, this time we just got a pitcher, easier that way :)

So tonight we will relax and pack for our rail tomorrow to Prague!

Hopefully this is at least half as interesting as my Japan blog, I feel a bit off my game.

  1. Just finished reading your current blog and it's great - there's so much that's different and new to yourself and us. Whole new country side that is beautifully set with wonderful old buildings.

The shoes look good, black, I like the soles those are neat, how do they feel walking in them? When you buy things there, how are the prices? Last time I checked the exchange rate but haven't this time. What is in Beccas mouth, she looks so funny in that pic? The store with gummy bears, was that all of them on the shelves? What was in that big cup that Becca had? It was so neat, looks as though it could be a pitcher of beer, but the way she's holding it I wouldn't be surprised if it were one glass of beer. I know you mentioned that the apple wine has been slightly different each place, but how can you guys keep drinking it, some where down the line I'd think you get tired of it, but I guess not it must be good.

Hey were doing fine, enjoying the blog it's great. T is still sleeping a short time out in the living room and then off to your room the rest of the night. My gosh did Lisa get her coffee fix with all those types of coffee cups on the table. Hows the Starbkucks there? Do they stay somewhat similar in taste and price vs here?
Well I'm sure you've all had a long day, of course it's only 2pm here and what about 11pm there - will sign off for now and look forward to the next installment of your trip, take some pictures of the rail your taking and what about the country side too! Love you all

  2. OMG....Der Fruchtgummi-Landen!! :O A whole store dedicated to gummies, incredible! ;_; The food you have been eating looks so yummy too. I'm enjoying see all the various ranges and sizes of sausages. Er, that sounds weird or anything, lol. ^_^; That was pretty cute about the tennis groom and his soup :) The last picture of Becca had me laughing, my best guess would be two small pretzels sticks in her mouth??
