That title sounds worse than it was, today was just a lot of waking up hill. One hill in particular was very steep and strenuous, though it felt good afterwards it was quite a trudge.
This morning we went to a nice breakfast place called Cafe Alibi. Very good food and especially great iced coffee for Erin. This place actually had a crowd at it unlike yesterday when nobody was around and nothing was open. It was also apparently baby/kid day, they were surrounding us, probably looking for a weak link to attack...
Today's started at Heroes Square, it mostly represents the freedom of the country and recognizes those who sacrificed to achieve it. Beside its political aspects it also has a religious undertone too (what doesn't...).
We continued past he monument into the park, just inside the park is Vajdahunyad Castle. I liked Lisa's take on it, "This castle looks the nicest to live in out of all that we have seen." Then classic to our travels we sat and relaxed in the park next to a lake/pond. One of the really nice aspects of this trip is we haven't really had to rush to be anywhere. Just take our time and enjoy, almost like a real vacation.
Met for photo op with Voldemort
Lisa wants to visit this fancy chocolate place so we stopped in, very nice looking deserts, but we all were feeling much more in the gelato mood. Took a quick break for savoring and then we were off again. Crossing the Chain Bridge, one of the nicer (fancier) bridges that connects Buda and Pest. After we crossed the bridge (which was right near the chocolate place) we walked up the hill that was across he street and that took us to Buda Castle.
Now the next and last place was Gellert Hill, this local is known for he panoramic view of the entire city of Budapest as well as its own monuments. Though after today I believe the steep paths should be listed as the most incredible part of the area...incredibly horrific to be exact. Like the title says these paths, though there were many, they all were arduous and eventually would get you to the top. So of course once we got to the top (it's the best!) we had to stay there for at least an hour, we took all hat damn energy to haul ourselves to the top, better freakin enjoy it! We sat at he base of the monuments steps and drank our waters and fanta (I drank coke, but the point is, we have decided that in Europe we have this unusual draw to drink fanta when we normally have no desire to, our hypothesis is that the bottles are very optically appealing and just make you wanna buy them).
Lots of walking/trudging today but it was all worth it for the great sites and good times!
Dinner: Deer for Erin and Boar for Lisa ( Becca had deer soup but was boring and had a salad after, Nat can appreciate that)
Yes Lisa bought this, because it's gum
Updates on Holtons and Faces blogs too.
Our balcony entrance to Goat Hostel
Just cuz.

This is the 3rd time for me posting... so most likely it will be short and sweet.
ReplyDeleteGreat views and the castle is wonderful... but that pond is great... can you see my fish getting bigger... and now that you eat fresh fish... how much fresher then catching your own fish from your own pond... what say you?
Looking forward to more and keep having fun... Love you...
Lol, photo op with Voldemort. That castle looks gorgeous! And good God, that shot of the bakery case! Le drool~
ReplyDeleteGlad you ladies made the trek up the hill, the view looks like it was definitely worth it! Beautiful photos :D
Wowaweewa, how was deer? And boar for Lisa (I want that beer she is drinking)! Very rustic of y'all. Props to Becca for the salad, hehe.
